UP election results: 97 per cent defeat for Congress, 72 per cent for BSP – India Times Hindi News – The Henry Club

The Congress in Uttar Pradesh lost its deposits in 387 out of 399 seats in the recently concluded assembly elections. The party has won only two seats. However, after contesting almost all the seats, the Congress got just 2.4% of the total votes, which was less than the RLD’s 2.9 per cent votes on which it contested.

According to a report in Times of India, former CM Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is another big party which lost its bail on 290 out of all 403 seats. Even the victorious BJP lost its deposits on three of the 376 seats and its strong rival Samajwadi Party (SP) lost its deposits in six of its 347 seats.

Of the 27 seats that BJP’s alliance partners Apna Dal (Sonelal) and Nishad Party contested, none lost their deposits, a sign that they were allowed to contest only those seats. got a chance

In contrast, smaller SP parties SBSP and Apna Dal (Kamerawadi) lost their security deposit to 8 out of their combined 25 candidates. Even his senior ally RLD lost his bail in three of the 33 seats.

As per the election rules, a candidate who fails to secure at least one-sixth of the total valid votes cast in a constituency, his security deposit is forfeited. Overall, out of 4,442 contestants in UP, 3,522 or about 80% failed to get their security deposits back.

According to the Election Commission, BJP got the highest 41.3 percent votes in the assembly elections, followed by Samajwadi Party with 32 percent votes. In the 2017 assembly elections, the BSP contested all 403 seats and won only 19 of them, while forfeiting its deposits in 81 seats. The party had polled over 22 per cent of the total votes cast in 2017.
