He described his nomination from Karhal as his mission for the victory of the SP’s progressive approach in politics against the BJP’s politics of negativity.
“This nomination is a mission as the 2022 elections will write the future history of the state and the country for the next century. Come forward with a progressive approach to constructive politics and be a part of this struggle with the aim of defeating and removing negative and destructive politics. Be.” Akhilesh tweeted in The Hindu minutes after filing his nomination at Mainpuri District Collectorate.
The SP chief left Lucknow by road in the morning to reach his native village Saifai, from where he reached Mainpuri on his victory chariot. Aware of Akhilesh’s visit, people stood by the roadside to catch a glimpse of the former UP CM, who shook hands at him. He reached the collectorate along with party’s principal general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav, former MPs Tej Pratap Yadav and Dharmendra Yadav, besides sitting MLA Sobran Singh.
Akhilesh Yadav is contesting an assembly election for the first time in his two-decade-long political career. Karhal is part of the Mainpuri parliamentary constituency, which is represented by party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav. Voting will be held in Karhal on February 20 in the third phase of the seventh phase of polling in the state.
After filing his nomination, Akhilesh thanked the people of Mainpuri and Karhal in particular for the way they assured and promised their support to him and the Samajwadi Party in the 2022 elections. He said, “I want to thank the people of Karhal and Mainpuri for extending their support to the SP. People’s love and support inspired the party to field me as the candidate from Karhal. We have disappointed someone. Won’t do it,” he said.
Describing the election as a fight against negativity, he appealed to the people to give a chance to the SP to serve them not only in Karhal but in every area. “I assure you that the party will take the state on the path of development, prosperity and progress,” he said. Responding to a question from the media regarding his program for campaigning in his constituency, Akhilesh said: “I have left my election to the party leaders and the people here. If I get a chance, I will definitely come. People have assured me that there is no need for me to come here. Yes, I will definitely come there winning.”
Minutes after Akhilesh filed his nomination, uncle Shivpal Yadav, who is the SP’s candidate from the nearby Jaswantnagar assembly constituency, took to the cup to congratulate him.
“Dear Akhilesh from Karhal Best wishes for his nomination and in advance congratulations on his victory with record margin. In 2022 you will lead a successful SP government which sets records in terms of working for the welfare of the poor and needy. ” Shivpal said.
