Voting for the sixth round of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections began on Thursday with the commencement of polling in the Purvanchal region of the state.

In the sixth phase, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Congress’s Ajay Kumar Lallu and Samajwadi Party’s Swami Prasad Maurya are in the fray to capture 57 seats.

Five-time MP Yogi Adityanath will contest the assembly elections for the first time. In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh election, the CM entered the House through the Legislative Council.

The districts where polling is to be held on Thursday are Ambedkarnagar, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Maharajganj, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Deoria and Ballia.
