UP Deputy CM calls Adityanath ‘our leader’, BJP will win with big margin in 2022

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma categorically stated that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is the leader of the party going into the 2022 elections which he says the party will win by a bigger margin than 2017. While talking to News18, Sharma targeted Akhilesh Yadav. Misleaded people on vaccination and said leaders like him were sitting at home during the pandemic instead of helping people. Edited excerpt:

The opposition has raised a lot of questions regarding the split in the BJP in Uttar Pradesh and the issues between CM Yogi Adityanath and Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya.

Those who want to spread misinformation can do anything but they should first study and research about BJP. There is neither differences nor differences in BJP. It is our tradition here that everyone can put forward their point of view but then when the decision is taken at the level of our top leadership, everyone jointly accepts it and work together. Yogi Adityanath is our leader and be it me or Keshav Prasad Maurya, we are working under his leadership in the best possible way.

So the 2022 election in UP will be fought under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath?

Where did this question even come from? There is no such issue. The efficient leadership of Yogi Adityanath is a topic of discussion all over the country. The way Yogi Adityanath has performed, our National General Secretary (Organisation) BL Santosh has issued a statement. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has also issued a statement. Our National General Secretary Arun Singh has also officially issued a statement. Even after all this, such a question should not arise.

What is your opinion about the next election?

I think no one has any doubt that BJP is coming to power again in UP in 2022 with more seats than in 2017. This is also the wish of the people.

Who is your main rival in Samajwadi Party, BSP and Congress?

The hearts of all opposition parties are one and their motive is one – to remove Narendra Modi and Yogi Adityanath. But if you remove then whom to bring? They have no answer for this. All these parties have come together in one form or the other in different guise and fought against us – and have lost miserably each time. Sometimes they form public alliances and sometimes they are in hidden alliances to fool people.

The opposition is targeting the BJP over the Kovid epidemic in UP and is saying that there is anger among the people against your government.

During the epidemic, the leaders of the opposition were tweeting far and wide while sitting at home. They did not even go to their villages or their constituencies for their own safety. But BJP workers came forward to help the people. Many of our cadres and office bearers got infected, many lost their lives, we lost MLAs and three ministers. But we did not sit at home. CM Yogi Adityanath got infected and on recovery went to every district of entire UP and checked the facilities for himself. The minister remained on duty as in-charge in one or two districts. This is the difference between us and them. This is their shortcoming that why they did not come out to help the people. Couldn’t they run community kitchens or distribute masks, sanitizers and medical kits like the BJP?

Vaccination was slow initially in UP, but now the pace has picked up.

There was a time when Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav had said that vaccination was for a while and don’t take it, and when his government comes he will take it. SP leaders also issued a statement saying that vaccines will cause disease and infertility. Totally wrong information was spread. When he saw that the vaccine was being praised everywhere, he questioned the availability of the vaccine. When that too did not work, he said that the vaccine should be free. When the vaccine was free for all, he said that this is the politics of Modi and Yogi. The Samajwadi Party tried to sabotage the vaccination exercise and the Congress too tried to do so by questioning its credibility. He should have avoided it but he chose to do so. They could have instead chosen to help motivate people to get vaccinated and to register, but they didn’t, but only criticized us.

What are your main agendas as you go to the polls?

Record investment has come in UP and a large number of jobs have been given and generated in the private sector. Expressways are coming, farmers’ loans have been waived and we have cleared record cane arrears and operated all sugar mills in the state. Cities like Varanasi and Ayodhya are being transformed. No new tax was imposed on the public in the last four and a half years. On the COVID front, we now have ventilators and oxygen beds in all districts, with over 480 oxygen plants being set up and many already operational. If you see 4.5 years of our government in UP, we have not only worked as a political party but also worked with dedication towards the people.
