UP Board students got calls asking for money in lieu of marks, UPMSP called them fake

A huge number of students have appeared for the class 10 and 12 board conducted by Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (UPMSP) They are getting calls asking for money in return for ‘good marks’.

According to the iNext report, according to students, callers whose numbers are listed as ‘Board Office’ and ‘UP Board’ on the Truecaller app demanded Rs 5,000 to increase their marks in the UP Board results. Callers share details of savings bank accounts for money transfer.

Acting on the complaints, Prayagraj Police has started investigation to find out the whereabouts of the callers. Preliminary investigation has revealed that calls are coming from different places in Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh.

Prayagraj Police has asked the students to beware of such calls and report the numbers immediately after receiving any call. The numbers of the students are reported to have been leaked by the cyber cafes which were used by them at the time of exam registration.

In 2020, the UP Board had issued a notice asking students to beware of such calls, reiterating that none of its employees was involved in any such scams.

More than 50 lakh students had registered for the UP Board exams this year. Out of which 24,11,350 were in class 12th and 27,81,654 were in high school. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the exams were conducted with lesser syllabus.

The evaluation process for the UP Board has been completed and it is expected to be announced soon. Although the official confirmation of the date is yet to come, the board has already completed the evaluation of the answer sheets.

The final result of class 12 and 10 will be prepared after adding the marks obtained by the students in theory and practical paper. To qualify the exam, students need to score a minimum of 33 percent marks in each subject as well as overall. This year, the UP board may also announce the merit and toppers list. The results will be made available to the students on the official website of UPMSP.
