The strategy paid off as the SP’s tally saw a jump of 69 out of the 47 seats it won after tying up with the Congress. By the time this report was filed, the SP with its alliance with the RLD, Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), Apna Dal (Kamerawadi) and NCP was leading in 124 seats.
By the time of filing of this report, the BJP’s seats have fallen by about 50 seats, but its vote share has seen an increase of about 2%. The party formed an alliance with Apna Dal (S), Nishad, to counter the SP’s influence in the eastern parts. The party secured 41.4% vote share against the previous 39.7%, with Apna Dal(S) pitching in with 1.4%.
