Officials said on Monday that the incident took place in Salempur village following an altercation between children, which led to a heated argument and a scuffle between elders.
Two people, including a woman, were shot dead in Salempur village following an argument between children, officials said on Monday.
Police said that Mehraj and Iqbal, both residents of the village, had had a fight on Sunday between their children over some issue.
Mehraj (35) was shot when he had gone to the village mosque to offer prayers. He was taken to the hospital, where he died during treatment,” said Superintendent of Police (Rural) Kamlesh Bahadur.
After this some people reached Iqbal’s house and fired at his wife Afroz (45). He was taken to a private hospital. Where he succumbed to his injuries, the police officer said.
The SP told that the relatives of both the parties are absconding since the incident. A case has been registered against six members of each side and efforts are on to arrest them, he said.
