Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Wednesday said that till the time Sukhbir Singh Badal and Bikram Singh Majithia take over the reins of Shiromani Akali Dal, there can be no hope of revival of the party.

He said Badal and Majithia have ruined the Akali Dal, which once claimed big leaders like late Jathedar Gurcharan Singh Tohra and late Jathedar Jagdev Singh Talwandi.

Mr Channi also hit out at Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, saying he is “dramatic” with the sole aim of gaining power in Punjab, but in keeping his flock together. are unable.

“As long as these two (Sukhbir Singh Badal and Bikram Singh Majithia) are at the helm of affairs in the Akali Dal, the oldest party cannot hope for a revival,” Mr Channi said.

Recalling leaders of Shiromani Akali Dal like Tohra, Talwandi and Late Master Tara Singh, the Chief Minister said that the party which once claimed such leadership has been ruined by Badals and Majithia.

“He (Mr) Majithia is now on the run from the law after an FIR was registered against him in the drugs case,” he said.

Taking a dig at Kejriwal for his actions, Channi said the Delhi Chief Minister used to accuse Majithia of being the kingpin of the drug trade but later apologized to him.
