The Governor of Goa said that they were successful in making the audience feel the sorrows and joys of Kunju Malikpuram as their own emotions.

Malappuram, starring Unni Mukundan and helmed by debutant Vishnu Shashi Shankar, is running successfully in theatres. Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai recently shared a long appreciation post on the social media platform. Sharing the poster on Facebook, the Governor said that he rarely goes to the cinema halls to watch movies. He then mentioned that he had the opportunity to watch the film with his family after an invitation from producer Anto Joseph.

“Malikappuram gave me a completely different cinema experience. The beginning of the film was very informative with the majestic voice over of Malayalam megastar Mammootty narrating the history and legend of Sabarimala as the narrator of the film. This devotional film is one that can be enjoyed by all audiences. The crew can surely be proud of making such a film,” he wrote in the caption of the post.

The Governor of Goa also mentioned that being born and brought up in Venmani village in Alappuzha district, the film’s plot and characters seemed very familiar to him. The governor praised the director and screenwriter Abhilash Pillai, saying that he was successful in making the audience feel the sorrows and joys of Kunju Malikappuram as his own emotions.

“The film has been able to bring the subject to the audience in an entertaining manner without being too boring for children and adults alike. The confidence and courage shown by the makers of the film towards the public is commendable. There is no doubt that this Through the film, the stories of Swami Ayyappan and Malikappuram will reach more people inside and outside our country.”

He ended his long note by saying that he hopes people make more films that have their roots in Devbhoomi.

The film stars Deva Nand, Sripath and Unni Mukundan in lead roles. Malikappuram follows the story of an eight-year-old girl, Kalyani, who wishes to visit Sabarimala, but fails to do so despite her best efforts. However, his determination to reach Sabarimala deepened after he faced a personal tragedy. She then decides to complete the journey with her classmate Unni.
