Taapsee Pannu Made her place in Bollywood with her stellar performances in films, with strong female characters like, ‘Thappad‘, ‘rose’, ‘Saand Ki Eye’ and many others. Now, the actress is ranked ninth as her latest film ‘Rashmi Rocket’ is getting a powerful response since its release.

In a candid chat with ETimes, the actress opened up about her determination and commitment to prepare for her role in ‘Rashmi Rocket’. Shah Rukh Khanson of Aryan KhanOn the arrest of Insider vs Outsider and his journey in the film industry so far.

Part…

You have shown incredible determination and commitment to prepare for this role. What was it about Rashmi Rocket that inspired you to do this?

Story, I thought it had never been mentioned before. The usual athlete struggle that we have in movies before, but this angle specific to a female athlete had never been raised in a movie before. So, the uniqueness of this subject inspired me to choose this role.

You have a naturally athletic frame, has your body and personality made it easier for you to take up physical training?

It is very convenient to look at a person and say that you have an athletic frame. But it takes a lot more to portray an athlete on screen. It was very challenging. I have never been a professional athlete. I love sports but have never played any sport professionally. Because I love sports and have admired the athletes a lot in my life. I wanted to make sure that I give my 100 percent when I come on screen, especially as a female athlete. I don’t think we’ve seen the female tracking field on-screen before. So, this was going to be the first time, I wanted to make sure that I give my 100 percent for the correct representation. I knew it would take a lot of hard work and effort. But the story made me feel it was worth it.

whether it is one player Or the actor playing that player, everyone gets to see an incredible physical transformation. But what about mental preparation? Being an athlete isn’t easy, even if you have to be one for a movie.

Mentally, the fact is that if they feel any kind of injury or discomfort in any muscle in their body they have to get up every day. And they have to believe it will be fixed and they have to work on repairing it as well as training. They are trying to achieve a goal that is likely to be the best in the world. This is very difficult. Every day after training, I used to say thank God to myself, ‘I’m not an athlete in real life’.

Because to get that strength and sometimes fight your body, push it further, to make sure you also take care of it and it doesn’t get injured. But you have to push it to the max. It is very difficult to keep yourself going mentally. One muscle injury and you might actually feel like giving up. Therefore, an athlete needs mental strength to keep going.

When you got trolled with the ‘manly figure’ comment, what was the most prominent feeling in your mind?

I was very happy. Because he really helped in the promotion of my film by saying so. I think it’s a compliment to me. Because I was trying to target that problem and they gave me a plate. He presented the problem to me very easily without any effort. So it helped my film a lot. So, for me, it was a very good supplement. But isn’t it the same for all girls? Especially for those who are not working in any film. This is not what they deserve to be heard, especially when they have worked hard for years to build this kind of body. They don’t deserve to hear all this.

Which character has been the most difficult to play out of all your films? And has any of your characters ever influenced you?

It was very tiring. This has been the toughest character I have played so far. So, playing the character of Rashmi was very exhausting for me mentally and physically.

In an ETimes interview, you said that Vicky Kaushal One of your favorite co-stars and now he is praising your performance in Rashmi Rocket. Looks like you both have a deep respect for each other?

We are just good friends. No matter what happens, we know that we always support each other. It ranges from movies to each other’s movies. Whenever Vicky and I speak, we hardly talk about our films and work. We talk about everything beyond our work. So, I think it’s just friendship, we would like to stand by each other.

An actor can go through many physical changes throughout his career of losing weight, gaining weight, adding muscle etc. But do such efforts, especially when they become healthy, healthy for the person doing them in the long run?

I can talk about my changes. I made sure I didn’t take any steroids or shortcuts to build that body type. Because I knew I had a life beyond that one film. I want to get back to my regular life. So, I can’t play with my body. So, I did it in a very real, natural and organic way. without harming my body. I know there are many ways to do these things quickly. So, I didn’t want to take it. Later on, it has a bad effect on your body.

So, it’s a rough and tough road. But if you choose that path, your body stays fit for a longer period of time.

Why is your production house called Outsider Films? Do you really believe that this is the only hallmark of your film career?

I am an ‘outsider’ who will always be an integral part of my introduction on any platform. This is a common thread that I keep hearing at every introduction I have. Therefore, I would prefer to adopt it.

On the flipside of the logic of outsiders considering what is happening with Aryan Khan now, and similar criticism has come up with many star kids in the past. Do you think being an insider and a star kid is too difficult?

It is very sad that we as celebrities bear the brunt of things more than anyone else. Even if we do well, we have appreciated more than any common person. When something goes wrong with us, we get criticized more. So, this is a sad part of being a celebrity.

Every boy in India probably thinks of a sports career in school. Does the same happen for girls? Or are they different? Have you ever thought that you would have a career in sports?

I never really took it seriously. But I loved sports. I never thought I would be a professional athlete. Maybe because I never do a particular sport for a long time. Maybe I would, maybe I would try. But I know many girls and boys who started working towards specialized sports at an early age. I really admire it and I’m really a big fan of sports stars.

Have you ever competed? omen when were you kids Is there a situation when both of you still compete with each other?

No, we have always been on the same side of the competition.

A lot of children learn sports from their parents. The first race or cricket match for many of us is with our father. Do you have any such memories with your father from childhood?

My father used to play hockey at the university level. But I think they abandoned it long ago. He went to a regular job. So, maybe that athletic gene, I got from him. Yeah, I don’t think my parents inspired me to become an athlete or an athletic role I am today. This is my own love for the game.

You’ve said in the past that you would never date a star. Though would you consider dating a sports person? If so, which players top that great list?

yeah why not i have a huge crush Andy Murray.
