Union Cabinet approves affiliation of 100 schools with Sainik Schools Society

New Delhi: The Union Cabinet has approved the affiliation of 100 government and private schools under the Ministry of Defense to the Sainik Schools Society. An official statement has been issued by the cabinet regarding this decision.

According to the statement, 5,000 students are likely to get admission in class 6 from the academic session 2022-23 in the recently affiliated schools. At present, around 33 Sainik Schools have the capacity to admit about 3000 students in class 6.

According to the report of PTI, proposals have been invited from various government and private schools to the central government for affiliation with Sainik School Society.

“It is recognized that integration of Sainik School education system with regular board plus curriculum is expected to produce academically strong, physically fit, culturally aware, intellectual, skilled young and well-rounded citizens. The students of these schools are envisioned to be equipped with essential life skills that will make them shine in their chosen fields,” the official statement quoted PTI in its report.

Recently on Wednesday, a senior official of the Union Defense Ministry told The Indian Express that the cabinet’s decision to expand Sainik Schools has received “healthy and encouraging response”.
