Underpass will be ready in Sector 71 this month. Noida News – Times of India

Noida: The tunnel near Area The 71 – after several deadlines – will be ready in the next few days, Noida Authority officials said on Wednesday. While the section is asked to be ready, as a final step, the authority has asked the deputed contractor Work To paint the interior walls of the underpass.
The underpass, which will provide connectivity to those traveling between the city center and Parthala Chowk, has faced several hurdles. The authority started work on the stretch in July 2019. In October that year, the authority blocked the Vikas Marg that connects Noida to Greater Noida and Vishwakarma Marg which connects Sector 61/71 to other 7X sectors and Barola.
While the authorization was successful to open Sector 61/71 and 7X Sector Route, Underpass is yet to be opened for public in a year. Once commissioned, the 780-metre long underpass will provide seamless access to Noida-Greater Noida commuters.
Officials of the engineering department of the authority said that all the civil works have been completed. “But the walls and ceiling of the underpass have to be raised. Presently, painters have been deployed to give the finishing touches before the underpass is opened,” said an official.
The workers have to cover a distance of more than 25 feet to do the painting work. “Painting the concrete span under Sector 61/71 to 7X Sector Carriageway is more difficult than it initially appeared. The area is 1,250 sqm, but only 150-200 sqm can be painted in a day. An official of the authority said, it will take another week to finish the work.
PK Kaushik, general manager of the authority, said that employees have been deployed in shifts to finish the work. “It is a matter of few more days after which this section will be inaugurated,” he said.
Officials stressed that the partial opening of the carriageway would not be as effective as the workers posted on site for painting and finishing work would be at risk and the pace of work would be reduced.
