New Delhi: Former Samajwadi Party leader Atiq Ahmed on Wednesday moved the Supreme Court seeking protection, claiming that he has been made an accused in the Umesh Pal murder case and faces a threat to his life. Ahmed, who is currently lodged in the Ahmedabad Central Jail, has also sought directions to ensure that he is not subjected to any bodily or bodily injury or harm in any way during police custody or interrogation.

He has also sought a direction to restrain the State of Uttar Pradesh and others from being moved from the Central Jail in Ahmedabad to Prayagraj or any other part of Uttar Pradesh.

Umesh Pal, the main witness in the murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal, and his police security guard Sandeep Nishad were shot dead last Friday outside their house in Dhumanganj area of ​​Prayagraj.

Umesh Pal was a key witness in the 2005 Prayagraj murder case in which Ahmed and others are prime accused.

On the other hand, the Uttar Pradesh government has started action against the accomplices of gangster Atiq Ahmed, named in the murder case. Prayagraj Development Authority today demolished the house of a close friend of Ahmed. Prayagraj Development Authority’s secretary Ajit Singh said that a bulldozer has been fired at Zafar Ahmed’s house. He said that Atiq’s wife Shaista Parveen used to live in the same house earlier.

Last week, Pal and one of his security personnel were shot dead in Jaitipur under Dhumanganj police station area. Pal was the main witness in the BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case.

Arbaaz, an accused in the Umesh Pal murder case, was killed in an encounter with the police on Monday. SHO of Dhumanganj police station Rajesh Maurya was also injured in the encounter.
