Ukrainian photographer and documentary producer Max Levin, who went missing two weeks ago, was found dead near the capital, Kyiv, news agency AFP quoted the president’s aide Andrey Yermak as saying. “Max Levin went missing on March 13 in the conflict zone in the Kyiv region. His body was found on April 1 near the village of Guta Mezhigirska,” Yermak said on Telegram.

Max Levine had worked with prestigious news and media organizations including the BBC, Reuters and the Associated Press.

Preliminary information released by the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office shows that Levin, who was unarmed, was killed by two small-arms bullets by soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces. His family consisted of four minor sons, a wife and elderly parents.

Levin has been missing since March 13, when he contacted his friend from Vishhorod, near Kyiv, to report fighting in the area.

An inquiry into his death has been started.
