Khalifa is accused of attempting to obtain information that could be used by a person to commit or prepare for a terrorist attack

The Metropolitan Police Force said in a statement that a serving member of the British Army was charged with a terrorist offense on Friday. The force said Daniel Abed Khalif, “from central England and a serving member of the British Army”, had been charged with a terrorist offence.

Khalif is charged with “attempting to obtain information likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism” in August 2021.

Police said he was also charged with “possessing an article with intent to induce another in the belief that the said article was likely to explode.”

The allegation pertains to an incident on 2 January.

Khalifa remains in custody and will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London on Saturday.
