UK: Indian student carries ‘drunk’ woman in arms, sexually assault her

New Delhi: A 20-year-old Indian student named Preet Vikal has been sentenced to six years and nine months in a young offenders institute for sexually assaulting a “drunk” girl, the BBC reports.

Vikal admitted to raping the girl in June last year after meeting the victim at a nightclub in the city of Cardiff. The accused accepted the charge. According to media reports, he had also taken a ‘trophy selfie’ with the woman before committing the crime. Meanwhile, the girl said that she has not been able to sleep since the incident.

A video of Preet Vikal was going viral on the internet in which he was taking a woman in his arms and later taking her home to sexually assault her.

According to the police, the woman was returning from a club with her friends. However, she broke up with him after some time and then she appeared in the video shot by Vikal.

He will serve two-thirds of his sentence in custody and the rest on licence.
