UGC invites proposal for development of online course on Indian Art Policy

University Grants Commission (UGC) has invited online proposals for the Swayam platform for development of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) on the Six Pillars of Indian Art Policy (IAP) at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. According to the UGC, institutes can submit their proposals till May 15 on the official website of the SWAYAM platform at swayam.gov.in.

In a letter to vice-chancellors of universities, directors of IITs and principals of all colleges, the UGC has sought proposals on science and research, climate and environmental protection, economic and human development, transport and connectivity, governance and international cooperation. The policy was unveiled by Earth Sciences Minister Jitendra Singh in March this year. The UGC, in its letter, said that on the basis of the meeting held at the National Security Council Secretariat, it was decided to prepare course material on art or polar studies for inclusion on the platform itself. “UGC is inviting proposals from institutions in this regard,” read the letter.

President Pranab Mukherjee had launched Swayamvar and Swayam Prabha platforms to facilitate education for all. The Swayamvar program provides digital classrooms in the remotest corners of the country with the help of internet and satellite connectivity.
