UGC’s Twitter account has been hacked (Representational image)
The Twitter account of the UGC, which has over 2.95 lakh followers, was hacked on Sunday after it was spotted by the hackers posting a series of popular tweets.

The official Twitter account of the University Grants Commission (UGC) has been hacked today, April 10. Unknown hackers took control of the Commission’s Twitter handle, which goes by the username – @ugc_india – and posted several irrelevant tweets. Hackers have also tagged the accounts of many unknown people of the social media platform.
The hacker also replaced the profile picture with a cartoon picture. It now appears as blank to the public. The bio of the Twitter account with over 2,95,000 followers has also been changed.
This comes after the official Twitter account of the Chief Minister’s Office (UP CMO) of Uttar Pradesh was hacked. Earlier, the social media account of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) was hacked. Several tweets were posted tagging many people from IMD’s account but the account was restored after a few hours. UGC’s Twitter was the third government account to be hacked within two days.
