UGC asks private, state universities to adopt CUET 2022 for UG admissions, leaves the decision to them

The UGC, in its letter to state, deemed and private universities, has suggested adopting the CUET process for the upcoming session to avoid the hassle of students appearing for multiple examinations.

In a letter addressed to the Vice-Chancellors and Directors of all universities in India and principals of all colleges, the UGC has given the option to non-central universities to choose their own mode of admitting students to UG programmes.

The UGC has left the option of considering class 12 marks for the session or conducting an entrance test to the educational institutions. However, showing its concern about the clash of various entrance examinations and the burden of appearing in multiple competitive examinations on the students, the Commission has appealed to the institutions to consider the CUET 2022 score for admission.

“In order to save the students from appearing in multiple entrance examinations held on different dates, sometimes coinciding with each other, and to provide equal opportunities to all the students of different boards, the UGC shall be conducting all the State Universities, Deemed Universities Invites and encourages private universities. and other Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to adopt and use CUET scores from 2022-23 for admission of students in their UG programmes,” the UGC said.

The commission has also provided the link of the website where the detailed structure of CUET 2022 has been published in its letter. The Common Entrance Test will be mandatory for 45 central universities in the country and will be conducted in 13 languages. National Testing Agency (NTA) Has taken charge of conducting the exam all over India. test will be based on Class 12 NCERT Syllabus only and it will have four sections, Students can appear for six domain-specific courses, along with a common test and a language test.
