Uganda seeks to import food machinery from India. Rajkot News – Times of India

Rajkot: The business fraternity of Ugandan is looking towards Gujarat to strengthen business ties.
A high-level business delegation of 30 members is expected to visit Ahmedabad and Rajkot in the last week of September, facilitated by the Saurashtra Vapor Udyog Mahamandal (SVUM), the apex body of MSMEs in the sector.
African countries are heavily dependent on imports and India is one of their favorite countries.
SVUM President Parag Tezura said, “The High Commissioner of Uganda contacted me to facilitate the visit and interaction of this delegation. This tour is a big opportunity for local industries. He has also written a letter to the state government regarding this visit.
According to Tezura, the delegation is likely to land in Ahmedabad on September 27 and conduct B2B meetings with a three-day factory visit. After that they will come to Rajkot for this.
Uganda is interested in importing machinery from India for making dairy products, ice cream, toilet and tissue paper, corn flakes, animal food, tomato ketchup, chili sauce, bakery products and peanut butter.
Rajkot is the center of engineering and various types of machinery.
“Two high-level delegations had visited Ahmedabad and Rajkot factories in the past, but this is by far the largest team to come. They want to buy plant and machinery as well as finished materials. They are also willing to receive training and technical know-how from us,” Tezura said.
