UAW monitoring possible active shooter situation at Kansas City plant

The United Auto Workers (UAW) union said Tuesday it is closely monitoring a possible active shooter situation at the Ford Kansas City assembly plant.

“It is our understanding that there is a heavily armed individual inside the assembly plant, but the quick actions of the union and plant leadership led to the evacuation of the building,” the union said in a statement.

There is now a large presence of law enforcement at the facility, the statement said, adding that there were no reports of workers being harmed.

Ford did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
