While Shweta anchored, Shafali was fiercely aggressive apart from some excellent timing, hitting 12 fours and four sixes in her 34-ball 78 at a strike rate of 229.41 before falling in the ninth over to Sindhu Nandkumar.
Shweta then started hitting boundaries for fun, scoring an unbeaten 10 off 74 off 49 balls, with Richa joining in the fun as she smashed five fours and two sixes in her 29-ball 49. .
On a day battered by the bowlers’ economy rate and UAE fielders dropping catches, medium pacer Samaira Dharanidharka’s figures of 1/33 in her four overs was the closest she came to reining in the rampaging Indians.
Chasing a tall target of 220, UAE threatened to respond aggressively, with opener and skipper Theertha Satish (16) hitting Shabnam for four fours in the opening over, conceding 17 runs.
But the moment she was dismissed by Shabnam on the fifth ball of that over, it was in complete disarray for the UAE. While they resisted being bundled out, a combination of accurate bowling and scoreboard pressure by India meant they never had a realistic chance of winning the match.
