Two police personnel killed, 13 others injured in bomb blast near Serena Hotel in Quetta

New Delhi: At least two policemen were killed and 13 others injured in an explosion near Quetta’s Serena Hotel, a luxury hotel, on Sunday evening.

The blast happened near the police van. Deputy Inspector General Quetta said the injured, including two policemen, have been admitted to the city’s civil hospital. He said the blast shattered the windows of nearby buildings.

News agency IANS reported that the police said that the blast took place on Jarghun Road near University Chowk in the city, in which explosives were kept on a motorcycle.

“Pakistan media reports say that four passers-by were also injured in an explosion targeting a police mobile near Tanzeem Chowk,” Balochistan government spokesman Liaquat Shahwani said in a statement.

Shahwani also said that the bomb was fitted in a motorcycle. Condemning the attack, he said, “The terrorists want to disturb the peace of Balochistan and spread fear.”

The injured have been admitted to the hospital, where emergency has been imposed.

Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan has condemned the incident.

The incident comes more than three months after a powerful bomb exploded in the parking lot of the Quetta Serena Hotel, killing five people and injuring a dozen others.

The Pakistan Taliban claimed responsibility for the April blast at the Serena Hotel in Quetta, Balochistan. More details about the event of the new eruption are awaited.
