Two Pak fishermen caught by BSF off Gujarat coast, injured after being shot while bidding for escape

Officials said the Border Security Force (BSF) has apprehended two Pakistani fishermen from the Harami Nala creek area near the Indo-Pak border near Gujarat’s Kutch district. In a statement issued late Friday night, the BSF said that both the Pakistani fishermen were apprehended after a chase in which they sustained bullet injuries in their ankles while trying to flee towards Pakistan.

“In a search operation that began on June 23, 2022, BSF Bhuj in a heated chase today caught two Pakistani fishermen from Harami Nala area. Both of them got shot in the ankle while trying to flee towards Pakistan. During patrolling on Thursday, a BSF patrol saw movement of Pakistani fishing boats in the Harami Nala area.

“Patrol teams immediately reached the spot and seized nine Pakistani fishing boats from different locations in Harami Nala area,” the statement said. More than 300 sq.km.

The BSF continued the search operation and cordoned off the entire area, closing all possible escape routes to the neighboring country.

The patrol team challenged the fleeing Pakistani fishermen. But when they did not stop, the BSF jawans had to open fire to nab the two. He was shot in the ankle and was taken to the hospital.

The BSF said that they have been identified as Sadam Hussain (20) and Ali Baksh (25), residents of Zero Point village in Pakistan.
