Prabhas and Deepika-starrer Kalki 2898 AD finally releases today, amidst soaring fan excitement and anticipation. The high-budgeted science-fiction film also stars stalwarts like Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan. Kalki 2898 AD is inspired from Sanskrit texts, which include sage Agastaya’s Kalki Purana and Mahabharata by Ved Vyas. As per the reports, Kalki 2898 AD’s OTT rights are bagged by two of the biggest streaming giants in the country. The film’s Hindi version has been reportedly bought by Netflix for Rs 175 crore. While the Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam versions of the film are secured by Amazon Prime Video for a whopping Rs 200 crore. The news is yet to be confirmed.

The film has unsurprisingly generated huge ticket sales on its release day, on all its language versions, going by the recent reports. According to the information by an industry tracker website, the film sold over 1 million for its premiere day. In the pre-sales business alone, the film has collected Rs 37 crore. The predictions state that the film could earn Rs 200 crore in its first day, which includes the collections from global markets like US, where it recorded impressive ticket sales.

Kalki 2898 AD is directed as well as written by Nag Ashwin. The ensemble cast includes names like Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani among others. Some prominent names like Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salmaan, S S Rajamouli and Mrunal Thakur are said to have appeared in cameo roles. It is produced by C Aswani Dutt under the banner of Vyjayanthi Movies. The music in the film is composed by Santhosh Narayanan and the cinematographer is Djordje Stojiljkovic. The editing is done by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao. The film is reportedly made under a budget of Rs 600 crore. Initially, it was set to release on May 9, but it was shifted to July 27 due to unfinished production work.
