Two more bodies recovered from Uttarakhand, dead trekker resident of Kolkata

Indo-Tibetan Border Police have recovered bodies of two people trapped in snow from Lamkhaga Pass in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. One of the dead was a resident of Kolkata. According to sources, 11 people set out on a 90-km trekking route between Himachal Pradesh and Gangotri. These included 6 trekkers and three porters. Although there were 16 people in the team. Last Monday, 11 people went missing due to heavy snowfall. The remaining 7 porters somehow came out of the area and informed ITBP.




After that ITBP, Army, Air Force, SDRF started the operation. After this ITBP rescued two bodies from the porter. But he could not be brought down due to bad weather. Disaster Management Department official Devendra Patwal said that it is possible to bring down both the bodies after the weather improves slightly. Both the bodies have been identified. One of them is Richard Mandal (30) of Kolkata and the other is Upendra Chauhan (32) of Uttarkashi.

Patwal said Richard’s body was being taken to Delhi. The body will be handed over to the family members. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand SDRF recovered five bodies on Friday. Four of the dead were residents of Kolkata. The rest are residents of Delhi. Meanwhile, two of the 11 missing people have already been rescued. Seven of the 11 missing people have been confirmed dead till Sunday.
