Greater Noida: A case has been registered against a 21-year-old woman for being found hanging in a rented house of a B.Tech student in a college in Greater Noida.
Police officials said a case of abetment to suicide has been registered against the woman.
On August 18, Agra resident Rahul Sharma (22) was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his rented house in Greater Noida. He allegedly used an electric cable.
According to the police, Rahul’s friend is an engineering student in a private college in Greater Noida.
The FIR registered in the case states that the woman “lusted” Rahul with a marriage proposal and bought several expensive items, including jewellery, from him.
But later, Rahul came to know that she was already in two more relationships.
After Rahul’s death, his mother lodged a complaint with the police that the woman had asked the young man to marry her. She claimed that the student often asked Rahul to buy her expensive gifts.
“He had asked my son to buy some jewelry for him. When my son found out that she was dating two more people, he tried talking to her. But he told my son that he bought him more expensive gifts than what Rahul got him. He got very upset. He talked to me about this as well. Later he spoke to his brother and uncle. He had said that he was feeling better after speaking about the incident.
Rahul’s mother alleged that the woman had met Rahul on July 7.
“That day, he snatched my son’s new phone, which he had bought online with a credit card. When he asked her to return, the woman said she would. But after some time he told my son that he had sold the phone.”
“He even encouraged my son to kill himself,” Rahul’s mother told the police.
Beta 2 police station SHO Rameshwar Kumar said that an FIR has been registered against the woman under sections 306 (abetment to suicide) and 379 (theft) of the IPC.
“Investigation is on and soon the student will be called for questioning,” he said.
