Two Lashkar terrorists arrested from Hyderabad in Darbhanga blast case: NIA

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday arrested two Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives in connection with the June 17 Darbhanga blasts case in Hyderabad.

The accused Nasir Malik and his brother Imran Khan are residents of Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh. He had moved to Hyderabad about two decades ago.

According to NIA sources, they were in constant touch with their Lashkar-e-Taiba masters in Pakistan who had planned several blasts across the country. Agency officials had left for Hyderabad from Delhi to interrogate the accused.

Preliminary investigation has revealed a conspiracy by top operatives of Lashkar-e-Taiba to carry out terror attacks across the country and cause large-scale damage to life and property.

In the Darbhanga blast case, the arrested Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives allegedly planted an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) to detonate a chemical blast in a passenger train going from Secunderabad to Darbhanga, but the terror operation went as planned. failed to proceed.

The consignment exploded with low intensity at platform number 1 of Darbhanga railway station. No casualties have been reported.

The Centre’s counter-terrorism agency has further revealed that Nasir Khan had gone to Pakistan in 2012 to undergo a special training under his Lashkar-e-Taiba masters. Meanwhile, Imran was in constant touch with ISI’s suspected handler Iqbal Khanna alias Asif Khanna through encrypted communication platforms like Telegram.

Apart from Nasir and Imran, the NIA is also questioning Mohammad Haji Saleem and his son Mohammad Kafeel, who were earlier arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police from Shamli.
