Two killed after car rammed into truck parked on Yamuna Expressway Noida News – Times of India

Greater Noida: Two dead and six others injured, including four minors Ertiga crashed into a stationary truck Yamuna Expressway Near Jewar toll plaza in the early hours of Friday. Police suspect that the driver of the vehicle snarled at the wheel and failed to locate the truck parked on the side of the Agra-Noida carriageway of the high-speed corridor, leading to the fatal accident.
The accident happened around 5 am when Manoj Kumar and his family were returning to their home in Faridabad from their native Darbhanga district in Bihar along with two of their friends. The accident was so severe that rescuers had to cut through the damaged remains of the vehicle to retrieve the two bodies trapped inside.
Manoj, his wife Sanju (38) and their four sons Sachin (17), Prem (16), Chandan (11) and Vijay (5) were injured in the accident, while their two friends Amit, who were driving the car, were injured. Ertiga sitting in front and 60-year-old Suresh lost their lives. AC repairman Manoj and his family have been living in Faridabad since last 10 years.
Jeweler SHO Umesh Bahadur told TOI that the Ertiga hit parked truck From behind, probably because Amit had fallen asleep at the wheel due to the long drive. “The Ertiga crashed into the truck and then jumped off the divider of the expressway near Jewar toll plaza. It looked like the vehicle was traveling at a very high speed,” he said.
In fact, the accident was so gruesome that the Ertiga was inseparable from the truck until the officials of the rescue team of the expressway had to cut parts of the vehicle to retrieve the bodies of Amit and Suresh from inside. Other people sitting in the back seat of the vehicle also had to be pulled out after a lot of effort. The victims were taken to Kailash Hospital in Jewar, where Amit and Suresh were declared brought dead on arrival.
Jewar police claimed to have seized the truck whose driver had parked it aside to take rest but there was no precautionary barricading around the vehicle. “The driver was nowhere to be found. We are trying to identify him and the owner of the truck. An FIR has been registered against the unidentified truck driver,” said SHO Bahadur.
In another accident, a speeding car rammed into a gorge in Deri Macha village of Badalpur area, injuring three people. Greater Noida on Friday evening. “All three are undergoing treatment at the hospital,” a local police officer said.
