Mandya: two students allegedly from Bangalore Drowned in river Kaveri Ganalu Falls In the Muttati forest of Mandya district.
Among the dead are 21-year-old Shamvel and 22-year-old Sibil, residents of MS Palya in Bengaluru. They are said to have drowned on Saturday and the incident came to light on Sunday. Before reaching the Ganalu Waterfalls, he had visited the Gaganakki Falls and other tourist places in the area.
On Sunday, the forest watchman suspected a bike parked inside the forest for two days, with no one around. He later saw the bodies of the victims at the bottom of the waterfall.
Mauti Tamannavar, SI of Halagur police station, reached the spot and pulled out the dead bodies from the deep ditch. Police suspect that the victims may have met a water grave or accidentally slipped into the river while attempting to take a selfie at the waterfall. “However, we cannot be sure whether the victim fell while taking the selfie as no one was present at the time of the incident,” a police officer said.
A case has been registered at Halgur police station.
