Police said the accused killed Bhati to avenge the murder of his uncle Mohammad Riaz in 2018. Bhati was charged with the murder of his uncle, but was acquitted and released from prison in April this year.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North West) Usha Rangnani said, “On Wednesday evening, our staff got information that Sohail and Babu, who had recently committed the murder in Khyala, were roaming near a hotel in Pitampura, and they may be committing another crime. The team set the trap. was laid and two men were overpowered and captured.”
He said the gun used to kill Bhati, another sophisticated pistol along with two live cartridges were recovered from their possession.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that they along with other associates had killed Bhati in June and have since been moving around in different parts of Delhi to evade arrest. DCP Said.
