Arjun Tendulkar replaces Arshad Khan in Mumbai Indians XI for mega clash against Kolkata Knight Riders
Arjun Tendulkar, son of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, got a chance to make his Indian Premier League debut for Mumbai Indians against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday. After a volatile start to the season, Mumbai Indians decided to make a few changes to their side for the crucial KKR clash as Tendulkar who has been a part of their set-up since 2021 finally got his chance after a long wait.
The 23-year-old all-rounder replaced Arshad Khan in the XI as the latter failed to impress in the first three matches. While Arjun got his first cap from Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma who unfortunately could not make it to the XI due to a stomach upset.

Arjun was first signed by Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2021 auction for Rs 20 lakh. He was released ahead of the 2022 mega auction and was re-signed by MI for Rs 30 lakh, but he didn’t get a chance in the XI last season. The five-time champions backed the southpaw and retained him for the same price this season.
The young cricketer started trending on Twitter after the toss where Mumbai Indians’ stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and decided to bowl first.
Last year, Arjun made his Ranji Trophy debut for Goa and impressed one and all with a brilliant century against Rajasthan. The southpaw started his cricketing journey with the domestic team of Mumbai but shifted to Goa for more playing opportunities.

Arjun has taken 12 wickets in 7 first-class matches, while he has taken 8 wickets in 7 List A games. Before his IPL debut, Arjun played 9 T20Is in which he took 12 wickets.
Arjun’s IPL journey has not been ideal so far as he missed the 2021 season due to injury. Arjun was not in the squad for the 2022 edition as well when he got an opportunity to play after Mumbai Indians were knocked out of the playoff race. The franchise, which denied Arjun a debut, had come under fire last year.
