Twitter pulls plug on feature that warned users ahead of heated discussions – Times of India

Earlier this month, Twitter announced that it will be rolling out a feature that will alert users if discussions are likely to become heated or intense. The move was announced as a part of the company’s ‘interactive health’ initiative. New feature was released iOS And Android platform for testing, but now a report from Mashable suggests that the company has pulled the plug on the feature.
As per the report, the new feature was not a hit among users and since it was a limited experience only a few random accounts were eligible to receive the signal.
“Want to know the vibe of a conversation before you ever join in? We’re testing signals on Android and iOS that alert you that a convo you’re about to enter may be hot or intense. It A work in progress as we learn how to better support healthy conversations.” wrote on Twitter when the feature was first introduced.
This is not the first time that the company has made a comeback after releasing a new feature. Features previously discontinued on the platform include controversial health features, quote-tweet prompts, the ability to limit replies, and others. Meanwhile, the platform’s Stories Like feature, fleet was completely suspended.
The micro-blogging platform also recently rolled out a new feature that allows you to block followers without deleting them. The action is also called ‘soft block’. To silently remove a follower or soft block someone, you have to go to your profile and click on Followers. Then click on the three dots next to the follower you want to remove and select ‘Remove this follower’.
Soft block is quite different from block because users can still access your tweets and profile. Users will also be allowed to send you direct messages, but they will not be able to see your updates in their feed. Users will also be allowed to follow you again. Until now, to remove a follower, you only had the option to block.
