Elon Musk-run Twitter has launched a new API (application programming interface) tier for startups – “Twitter API Pro” which costs $5,000 per month.

With the tier, developers will be able to receive one million tweets per month, post 3,00,000 tweets per month, and have access to the full archive search endpoint.

“Today we’re launching our new access tier, Twitter API Pro,” the Twitter dev tweeted Thursday.

It states, “Experiment, build and expand your business with 1M tweets per month, including our powerful real-time filtered/streamed and full archive search endpoints.”

Several users on Twitter expressed their views on the development.

“That’s cool, but you’ve killed most of the Twitter apps by now. And 5K is still too much for most of us. A plan of a thousand might make sense…but then it’s too late.” ,” commented one user.

Another user said, “5k is like half of our monthly budget as a startup…quite out of touch pricing.”

Furthermore, another user noted, “no developer will ever trust Twitter again”.

In March, Twitter launched its new paid API platform with free, basic, and enterprise access tiers.

These three tiers include a basic ‘free’ tier primarily for content posting bots, a $100 per month ‘Basic’ tier and a costlier ‘Enterprise’ tier.
