Twitter is rolling out a new way to reply to tweets with pictures or videos

Micro-blogging platform Twitter has announced that it is testing a feature that will allow users to reply to tweets with photos or videos. The feature, called “Tweet Tweet with Response,” allows you to customize your “own tweet take – a reaction video (or photo) with the tweet.” This feature will allow users to embed a tweet along with their photo or video. Twitter says that this feature is currently being tested only on iOS and has been rolled out to some beta testers.

Testers who got this feature can access it by clicking on the Retweet button, where they will see a new “Quote Tweet with Reaction” button. Tapping this will take users to a screen where they can take a photo or video to tweet. at the top, or simply select a photo or a video from your Camera Roll. A Twitter product executive tweeted a response quote to demonstrate the feature, which shows how reactions will appear to users on Twitter.

The feature is similar to TikTok’s video reply feature and Instagram’s recently announced feature, which allows users to reply to comments on their posts with Reels.

However, this new feature has many Twitter users concerned about the potential for quote tweets as an easy vector to upset. As noted in a report by The Verge, although it can be relatively easy to moderate regular quote tweets, it’s harder to programmatically scan the content of a photo or video. A Twitter spokesperson told the website that currently, users will not be able to turn off who can and can’t use this feature on their tweets, as it inherits the standard quote retweet behavior.

On concerns about the new feature being used for harassment, the spokesperson told The Verge, “The safety of people on Twitter is our priority and while we don’t expect it to be used in a harmful fashion, we don’t want to use it.” Will closely monitor the product and ensure that any misuse is decided in accordance with the Twitter Rules.”
