New Delhi: Twitter It is busy introducing features and settings that allow users to have a comfortable experience. Keeping this in mind, Twitter has now launched a safety feature called Security Mode. This new feature will automatically block accounts that send harmful or abusive senders Tweets to a user. With this new feature, Twitter aims to ease the burden on people dealing with unwanted conversations. The social network giant began rolling out the feature after feedback from a small group of people. The new feature is available on iOS, Android and Twitter.com.
Here’s how the new security feature works
The new Safety Mode feature will temporarily block accounts for a period of seven days for using potentially harmful language — such as insulting or hateful comments — or sending repetitive and uninvited replies or mentions.
Once the feature is enabled, Twitter will assess the likelihood of negative engagement by considering both the content of the tweet and the relationship between the tweet author and the respondent. “Our technology takes existing relationships into account, so accounts you follow or interact with frequently will not be automatically blocked,” Twitter said.
“Our technology will autoblock authors of harmful or uninvited Tweets, meaning they will be temporarily unable to follow your account, view your Tweets, or send you direct messages,” Twitter said.
Twitter first showcased the Safety Mode feature at the company’s Analyst Day presentation in February. In addition, Twitter also introduced features like hiding replies, limiting people who reply to their posts, and showing warnings before tweeting harmful replies that help reduce abuse on the platform.
