Twitter India MD claims: We have nothing to do with Twitter Inc, High Court’s decision on UP Police notice today

Twitter India MD Manish Maheshwari on Thursday claimed in the Karnataka High Court that Twitter India is an independent entity. It has nothing to do with the parent company Twitter Inc. Maheshwari gave this information under a petition challenging the notice of Uttar Pradesh Police. The notice was sent to him in connection with a probe into a case related to uploading of a communally sensitive video by a user on Twitter.

In this, he was personally called for question-and-answer in the concerned police station of Ghaziabad. Justice G Narendra can order in this matter on Friday. Earlier, he wanted to know whether Twitter Inc., headquartered in the US, can be called the parent company.

Lawyer said – Twitter Inc will have to face the consequences
Ghaziabad Police’s lawyer P Prasanna said- ‘Twitter Inc will have to face the consequences of saying that they don’t know who Twitter India is? I believe that 99% of the company’s shares are held by Twitter Inc. All the associates of the petitioner have been representing Twitter India and Twitter Inc before the Central Government agencies.
