Two Twitter handles of the Uttar Pradesh government and the state information department were hacked briefly on Monday, officials said. Both accounts have been restored.
A senior official told PTI that the verified Twitter handle of the Uttar Pradesh government (@UPGovt), which has 2.7 million followers, was hacked for about 10 minutes.
A fact check Twitter handle operated by the Department of Information – @InfoUPFactCheck – was also hacked.
The handle @InfoUPFactCheck is followed by over 24,000 people.
The official Twitter handle of the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s Office was hacked in the early hours of Saturday.
A case was registered in this regard at the Cyber Crime Police Station, Lucknow.
He said, ‘The account was hacked for about 29 minutes in the night.
The hackers posted about 400-500 tweets and the account was suspended on the basis of unnatural activity.
The Twitter handle @CMOfficeUP has more than 40 lakh followers.
