Twitter had a security breach that resulted in private circle tweets being exposed to the public. According to a news report, Twitter has reached out to affected users and informed them about the incident that happened earlier this year. Report From The Guardian has cited the mail that Twitter sent to these users.
The micro-blogging platform states that the issue was fixed immediately, which might bring some comfort to the affected users. Also apologized for the trouble caused by this. The company informed via email, “Twitter is committed to protecting the privacy of people who use our service, and we understand the risks that such an incident could present and we are deeply sorry. ”
Twitter Circles were introduced so that people can have specific people in their circle who can see their tweets, replies, and other actions. But this security issue resulted in other people being able to see Tweets from many of these circles. They also decided to let go of the communications team, which probably explains the delay in letting users know about the incident.
