TRS MPs move privilege motion against PM Narendra Modi | Hyderabad News – Times of India

HYDERABAD: Stepping up their attack on PM Narendra Modi for his comments on bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in Parliament, TRS MPs on Thursday moved a privilege motion against him in both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha.
TRS Rajya Sabha floor leader K Keshava Rao and TRS leader in Lok Sabha Nama Nageswara Rao served notices on RS chairman and LS speaker seeking action against the Prime Minister.
Modi, in his speech, had said that while he supported the bifurcation, the manner in which the bill had been passed was unacceptable. He also said that the faulty process was responsible for the continued problems between AP and Telangana,
Keshava Rao called Modi’s comments on the AP Reorganization Bill shameful. He said the statement attempts to show both houses in the most contemptuous manner, denigrating and demeaning the procedures of the houses and functioning.
PM questioned procedures adopted by the House: MPs
The senior MP said the PM’s remarks were tantamount to finding fault with the MPs and presiding officers for their conduct in the house.
“Even the decision of the presiding officer to close the doors of the house to prevent disorder or mischief of a handful members during passage of the bill was questioned by the PM,” Nageswara Rao said.
The MPs said the Prime Minister had openly questioned the procedures adopted by the presiding officers and management of the house during the passage of the bill on February 20, 2014, in Lok Sabha and on February 21 in Rajya Sabha.
“The presiding officer, according to the rule book, is always final. Finding fault with the conduct of the presiding officer was not correct,” said the MPs in their notice.
The TRS MPs boycotted the proceedings in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha on Thursday. The TRS MPs raised slogans and displayed placards protesting against the remarks of the PM.
Senior Congress MP Mallikarjun Kharge supported the TRS MPs on the privilege motion against the PM.
The TRS has started attacking Modi after his comments on formation of Telangana and held statewide protests by taking out rallies and showing black flags on Wednesday.
The TRS demanded an apology from the PM while BJP leaders said the PM was not against creation of Telangana but only mentioned at the way the bifurcation bill was passed in haste.
