The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has raided Deshmukh’s house for the second time in connection with the recovery of 100 crores imposed by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh on former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. Two ED teams are conducting searches at Deshmukh’s house in Shivajinagar. Earlier, ED had raided his house on 25 May. Before the ED, the CBI had also raided 12 of his places.

According to the latest information, the ED’s action started at 6 am and is still going on. ED has registered a case against Deshmukh under money laundering. Apart from Anil Deshmukh, his close friends were also named in the ED case, which is now being tightened.

These are the allegations against Anil Deshmukh
Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh, in a letter to the state Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray about two and a half months ago, alleged that Anil Deshmukh had given a target of recovery of Rs 100 crore every month to suspended Mumbai Police officer Sachin Vajhe. Although Anil Deshmukh had denied the allegations, Deshmukh had to resign after the Bombay High Court ordered a CBI inquiry.

Sachin Wajhe also accused Deshmukh
Not only Parambir Singh, but Sachin Vajhe also accused former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh of giving a target of illegal recovery. Vajhe had said in a statement to the NIA, ‘I rejoined duty on 6 June 2020. Sharad Pawar was not happy with my joining. He asked me to suspend him again. This was told to me by Anil Deshmukh himself. He had also asked me for Rs 2 crore to convince Pawar sahib. It was not possible for me to pay such a huge amount. After this the Home Minister asked me to pay it later. After this my posting was done in the Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) of Mumbai.

Vajhe had further told, ‘In January 2021, Home Minister Anil Deshmukh called me to his official bungalow. Then his PA Kundan was also present there. At the same time, I was asked to have 1,650 pubs, bars in Mumbai and collect Rs 3 lakh per month from them. To this I told Home Minister Anil Deshmukh that there are only 200 bars in the city, not 1,650 bars.

“I even refused the Home Minister to collect money from bars and pubs like this, because I told him that it was beyond my capacity. Then PA Kundan of the Home Minister told me that if I want to save my job and post, then do what the Home Minister is saying.
