Tripra Motha is planning to field candidates in 40 to 45 constituencies in the upcoming assembly elections, the dates of which will be announced soon.

Late CPI(M) veteran Anil Sarkar’s son and businessman Abhijit Sarkar joined the Tripura Citizens Federation, a front organization of ‘Tipra Motha’ in the plains comprising 2,000 people from 145 families.

The induction program took place at the royal ‘Ujjayant Palace’ in the presence of ‘Motha’ supremo Pradyot Kishore and Morcha organization coordinator and former MLA Tapas Dey. The 145 families that joined Motha’s front organization included many who came from outside the state capital.

Apart from reiterating his oft-quoted stance on pre-poll alliances with any party, Kishor made an important remark. He said, ‘We will never become a vote-cutting party to ensure BJP’s victory in the coming elections. We will put up candidates in constituencies where we have a real chance of winning,” Pradyot said.

He said that he would not forge an alliance with anyone else for the assembly elections without a written assurance of support for his long-standing demand of ‘Greater Tipraland’. The Motha supremo said that it has already been decided and the matter will be discussed afresh in the meeting of our executive body with all other party leaders.

He also said that his party ‘Tipra Motha’ has the support of all sections of people, tribals, Bengalis, Manipuris, Muslims and Hindu voters and the party will work for all through its political programs and if voted to power.

Tripra Motha is looking to field candidates in 40 to 45 constituencies in the upcoming assembly elections, the dates of which will be announced soon.
