The bail condition states that Sukanya Mondal has to provide her mobile number to the investigating officers and ensure that it remains unchanged.
TMC leader Anubrata Mondal has been in the news after he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the cattle smuggling case. His daughter Sukanya Mondal was also arrested in April 2023 for the same case. On Tuesday, September 10, Sukanya Mondal was granted bail by the Delhi High Court.
Sukanya Mondal was released on bail with a personal bond of Rs 10 lakh. Justice Neena Bansal Krishna of the Delhi High Court granted her conditional bail, requiring her to appear in lower court during hearings related to the case.
The bail condition also states that Sukanya has to provide her mobile number to the investigating officers and ensure that it remains unchanged. She must also be reachable over phone calls at all times and inform the investigating officer about her whereabouts. Adding to it, she is also not allowed to travel abroad without permission of the lower court.
Every year, on the occasion of Durga Puja, Anubrata visits his family’s ancestral home in the village of Hatserandi, Birbhum district regardless of any engagement. Every year a huge feast is organised with many well-known politicians and celebrities. However, this year Anubrata will not be able to perform the rituals as he is presently imprisoned in the Tihar Jail. Her uncle mentioned that as Sukanya is returning, she will perform her rituals in her father’s absence.
Sukanya was arrested by the ED on April 26, 2023, after a long interrogation in the national capital. Her father, Anubrata Mondal was arrested around 8 months before her arrest in connection with the same case. The ED claimed earlier that she was not cooperating during interrogation sessions. Before her arrest, Sukanya was summoned to Delhi by the CBI. The investigating officials claimed that she held some important information about the assets of his father. However, Sukanya allegedly deferred all asset-related questions to her father and their accountant, Manish Kothari, who is currently in the ED custody.
