Trees crash in US home, family safe due to hurricane baby monitor capture video

New Delhi: A series of shocking videos and images were shared by an American woman after a tree crashed into her home, substantially destroying a portion of her roof. One of her videos was footage of baby monitors that captured falling trees and debris falling into the baby’s crib.

Fortunately, the child is fine but a part of the house has been destroyed and will need a lot of work.

On July 2, Courtney Buchholtz put her son, Cannon, down to sleep at their Prairieville home in Baton Rouge, a Louisiana suburb, when a storm broke out. Then a big tree hit the roof and fell. The monitor captures the child who was sleeping peacefully, awakened by a loud crashing sound as insulation and debris falling down from the ceiling. Suddenly, you see Courtney walking by and quickly grabbing her baby.

In her Facebook post, Courtney said it happened two minutes after Cannon was put to bed and carrying her through the wreckage was “one of the scariest things” she had ever experienced, understandably.

Her entire family and dogs are safe, and they are temporarily moved to her cousin’s house while they fix up the house as it is currently ‘unsanitary’. Friends and neighbors all gather to help the family and express their gratitude to them.

Speaking to local media, Buchholtz said this was not the first time that family life has been devastated by a weather-related disaster.

“Trying to remember that all of our physical things are (once again) changeable. We did it once in 2016.” Buchholtz said. “We’ll do it again.”
