New Delhi: Toyota has confirmed that it will soon launch a new SUV in its luxury sedan lineup. Its debut could happen by the end of this year. On the sidelines of the unveiling event of the new generation Vellfire MPV, the Toyota management has confirmed the arrival of the new model. It will be sold alongside the new SUV sedan, which has been in the market since 1967.
Sales will also take place outside Japan. The new SUV will be the second product from the company after the popular crossover sedan with the Sensuous badge. While it will be sold in Japan, the sensuous SUV will be introduced as a global product. The company will use this strategy to expand the Sensuous brand to other markets outside Japan, as it did for its Crown brand, which is sold in several markets including North America.
It will provide luxury and comfortable facilities. According to media reports, it will be a monocoque SUV that has been primarily designed for city-centric driving experiences rather than off-roading. The sensuous SUV is expected to excel in terms of space and comfortable features, providing an exceptional customer experience.
Its size will be very large. Toyota may use the same monocoque architecture platform for this new SUV as was used for the Toyota Grand Highlander SUV. Both will have the same wheelbase, but the sensuous SUV will be bigger than the Grand Highlander. According to sources, this SUV will be around 5.2 meters long and two meters wide.
In terms of powertrain, the current sensuous sedan comes with a V12 petrol engine, but it will not be used for the SUV. The new Toyota Sensuous SUV will feature a petrol-hybrid powertrain. Limited information is available about it at the moment, but more information may come to the fore in the near future.
In the global market, it can compete with the Bentley Bentayga SUV, which can potentially be given a 4.0-liter petrol engine. This SUV is known for its luxury and comfort and has a top speed of 290 kmph. Its price starts from Rs 4.10 crores.
