Toyota announces two initiatives in line with ‘Make in India’ and ‘Skill India’ – Times of India

Bengaluru: ToyotaA leading auto-maker, on Sunday announced two major initiatives that are expected to strengthen its contribution to the country’s vision of achieving self-reliance through ‘Make in India’ and ‘Skill India’.
Projects include Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of Phase-II of Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI) which includes major enhancement of skill infrastructure by Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), a statement from the office of the Minister of IT-BT, Science & Technology, and Skill Development, Dr. Ashwath Narayan,
The project aims to skill a large number of people in the advanced automotive sector, the statement said.
It states that the other initiative is Toyota. Kirloskar Auto Parts (TKAP) announced the line-off of its new e-drive (Electrified Component) manufacturing line.
The projects were inaugurated by the Union Minister for Heavy Industries Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey and Dr. Ashwath Narayan, the statement said.
“As part of the recent MoU of Rs 4,800 crore signed by Toyota Group of companies (with an investment of Rs 700 crore for TIEI) with the government KarnatakaThe line-off of TKAP’s e-drive manufacturing facility reflects the company’s efforts in setting up a local manufacturing ecosystem towards green mobility goals that align with the country’s national objectives,” Pandey was quoted as saying.
Minister Narayan said the projects enable manufacturing of safe and environment-friendly vehicles along with creation of a skilled workforce and contribute to the betterment of the society as a whole, the statement said.
Narayan said that to create world-class manpower in advanced technologies and manufacturing, TKM has undertaken a massive expansion of TTTI with a capacity of 200 to 1,200 students (academic batch-wise).
He explained that this will be a major boost to the existing skilling facility at its Bidadi plant with a focus on enhancing the skill-level of the students on advanced technology by Toyota expert trainers (globally certified). Vikram S Kirloskar, Vice President, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said that with the recent signing of the MoU, the company’s clear objective is to make massive investments in creating deep cuts in carbon emissions, higher job creation, not just local manufacturing hubs. for domestic needs but also for advancements in global markets, local community development and innovation.
