Toymaker Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner Will Take Medical Leave

New York: Toymaker Hasbro Inc. has announced that Brian D. Goldner is taking a medical leave of absence from his CEO role, effective immediately.

The move, announced on Sunday, follows Goldner’s disclosure in August 2020 that he had been undergoing continuing medical treatment for cancer since 2014.

Goldner has owned Hasbro, Inc. since 2008. Has served as CEO, and as Chairman since May 2015.

Hasbros board chief independent director Rich Stoddart has recently been appointed as interim CEO and will begin immediately.

Hasbro says Stoddart brings extensive leadership experience and expertise in global brand-building, advertising and marketing, and supply chain management. He was previously the largest global marketing execution company, Innerworkings, Inc. and Leo Burnett was CEO at Worldwide. He has served on the Hasbros board since 2014.

With Stoddart appointed as interim CEO, the Hasbros board appointed Edward M. Phillip as principal independent director and Tracy A. Leinbach as Chairman of the Board’s Nominations, Governance and Social Responsibility Committee.

Brian has been an inspiring and visionary leader who has set Hasbro on an incredible path toward the future. At Hasbro we are all thinking about him while he remains focused on his health,” Phil said in a statement.

Hasbro is headquartered in Pawket, Rhode Island.
