Tour operators demand uniform travel policy across states

The Indian Association of Tour Operators has urged the Center to formulate a ‘One Nation One Travel Policy’ for international travelers.

The difference in travel policies or guidelines between states is “causing confusion” for foreign and international travellers, the association said in a statement.

‘A floor’

“While traveling to India, foreign tourists think of India as a destination and they plan their travel as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and as advised by the tour operators. But many state-level policies discourage international tourists from traveling to India to a negligible level already due to the pandemic,” said Rajiv Mehra, president, IATO.

A single travel policy will pave the way for “stronger bookings when normal international flights resume”, he said.
