Top Pakistani military officials meet Iranian President – Henry Club

Rawalpindi: General Nadeem Raza, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), who is on an official visit to Iran, called on President Syed Ibrahim Raisol-Sadati in Tehran, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Saturday.

The army’s media wing said that during the meeting, both sides expressed their desire to initiate fruitful and long-term security and defense cooperation between the two countries.

The ISPR said issues of bilateral strategic interest, regional security environment, strengthening bilateral security and defense cooperation between the two countries were discussed in the meeting.

General Nadeem Raza held separate meetings with Defense Minister Brigadier General Mohammad-Reza Gharei Ashtani, Chief of General Staff Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Commander-in-Chief of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Major General Hussain Salami and Rear Admiral Shahram Irani. “The dignitaries discussed ways to increase the level and scope of military engagement between the two countries and promised to build deeper ties,” the statement said.

Both sides highlighted that the shared borders should be “the boundaries of peace and friendship”.

The Iranian military leadership appreciated the professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces and acknowledged their sacrifice in the fight against terrorism.

Earlier, on arrival at General Staff Headquarters, a team of cleverly dressed officers presented the ‘Guard of Honour’ to the Chairman JCSC.
