Top 4 IT companies to hire record 1 lakh employees in April-September – Times of India

Bangalore: India’s four largest IT firms – TCS, Infosys, Wipro And HCL The first six months of the financial year have seen their combined workforce increase by over 1 lakh. This is 13 times more than the corresponding period last year after the outbreak of the pandemic. And this is almost double the same period in the pre-pandemic year, 2019-20.
This is an indication of how much demand for IT services has increased. Enterprises around the world are trying to digitize their operations with this pandemic because of how important it is to sustainability. There is a huge movement for the cloud because of its ability to scale IT requirements up and down very quickly. This movement for the cloud is also opening up new opportunities in analytics, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things. Digitization has also proved to be a fertile ground for cyber criminals, and in turn, has given rise to a huge demand for cyber security.
TCS, which has 5.2 million employees, led the hiring momentum (see graphic). Some of the hiring by companies is to deal with high attrition rates. Infosys’ attrition increased to 20.1% in the previous quarter, from just 13.9 percent in the June quarter. Other companies have also seen an increase in attrition rates.

TCS has said that it plans to offer 75,000 freshers this year, which is a record for the company. in an interview to You, TCS CEO Rajesh Gopinathan “The trust in technology and the momentum in it is growing.” He explained how the cloud-based transformation represents an architectural change in IT. The cloud, he said, is enabling capex to be replaced by opex, allowing enterprises to experiment a lot. On the pace of appointments, Gopinathan said TCS last saw it coming out of the financial crisis in 2011-12.
Infosys raised its revenue guidance for the year for the second time last week, a sign of how fast demand is picking up. The company has increased its new hiring target for this year to 45,000 from 35,000 it had planned three months ago.
Wipro CEO Thierry Delaporte Said the demand environment is very strong and the pipeline, which is the highest in recent quarters, is a reflection of that.
HCL Technologies CEO C Vijay Kumar Said, “We saw the highest net recruitment numbers in the last quarter – 11,153. In the last three quarters our employee workforce has net hiring of approximately 28,000 and in the case of third party contractors another 3,500. So, the total is close to 32,000 in the last three quarters itself,” he said.
